TESTIMONIALS

"Just being able to ‘hang out’ two to three times a week with fellow students in an informal setting is such a pleasure."

"These sessions have transformed my <university> experience from a purely academic one to something much more rounded. Just being able to ‘hang out’ two to three times a week with fellow students in an informal setting is such a pleasure.  We are able to discuss subjects related to our studies, but also to chat about other common interests which makes the sessions very relaxing. They also make me make time for regular study in my diary. Another nice feature is that they are accessible to everyone."

"these hours form the major part of my study time for the week. It is a way of creating a regular daily study habit that helps avoid procrastination"

"I have been attending ‘study with me sessions’ with Emily Chambers for the past year and I find them incredibly useful. I usually log in for 4 or 5 day sessions and these hours form the major part of my study time for the week. It is a way of creating a regular daily study habit that helps avoid procrastination because I set the time aside. I have been very upset at the slow erosion of any of the face to face elements of studying with <university> and these sessions have done an excellent job in plugging that gap. There is a nice balance between quiet study and interaction with other students. Some of the discussions in the breaks have been very interesting and illuminating and this gives an impression of being part of a class. Emily is always very accommodating with all of our diverse questions and support needs. Participating in these sessions has greatly enhanced my experience of studying with <university> and I am sure I will continue to avail myself of this wonderful resource in the years to come."

"They allow us to support one another, and even chat and laugh together."

The study sessions have been a wonderful 'place' for me and other <university> students to study our modules and share ideas with one another! I have felt a greater connection to the <university> community since I joined the study sessions, I have not only been able to meet other students in my module, but from other modules as well, all with different interests, ideas, and views to talk about. They allow us to support one another, and even chat and laugh together.

This is such an integral part of the student experience. Emily Chambers created something that exemplifies everything that this university stands for; she is a fantastic tutor with a real passion for helping people. I cannot put into words how grateful I am for her to have invited me to these. She has single handedly created a place for students to engage with each other, a place to ask a tutor questions, and a support network.

The idea for summer sessions is absolutely fantastic! It is a great way for students to keep their mind sharp over the break, while at the same time keep in contact with one another, and I know that would certainly join them. I would also recommend that along with the study sessions during the summer, that there be some social sessions as well.
